TUTORIAL: HOW TO ACCESS AND USE THE GOOGLE SEARCH ENGINE
] Open your web-browser, e.g. Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, etc., I personally use Mozilla Firefox and thus the screenshots found in this tutorial.
] The program should somewhat looks exactly or similar to this, once you have it opened and running.
] This step is pretty crucial and requires finesse, but what you have to do is type in what you are looking for, e.g. Anglo-Zulu Mod
, Bello Civili Mod
, North & South: First Manasses Mod
, into the purple
area. Alternatively you can type in, www
, in the green
] Should you choose the first option, i.e. typing into the pink
area, your screen will turn to something that looks somewhat similar to this. Note that the language on your screen might differs from the one displayed in the screenshot, do not
panic and attempt to close the program, this will nullify the whole search process. This phenomenon is normal and is dependent on where you live, Google somehow automatically select the language of the country where you access it from, in this tutorial case The Netherlands. If you happen to be in the similar situation and are unable to understand the corresponding language, you can change it on the bottom right corner of the webpage, which will allow you to use the international English version instead. Do note that the location on the search result or any other buttons are the same, therefore once you have used it few times, you should not be having any troubles even if it is displayed in foreign language.
] Alternatively, should you choose the later option, i.e. typing into the green
area, you will have this web page in your screen instead. Note that the picture in the middle of the web page might be different from time to time, once again do not
panic and continue with the process. What you have to do now is to type in what you are looking for, in the blue
area and press [ENTER] on your keyboard or press 'Google Search' button just below the highlighted area, your screen will now turn into somewhat similar or the same as the screenshot found on section 4a.
] Those listed on that webpage are called the search result, you can then select any of those and it will redirect you to the corresponding website. I hope you find this tutorial helpful and do not forget to keep practicing, it may takes a while before you can get a good grip on how to use this feature. You can also look for another things, just repeat the steps in this guide and type in different keywords.
] I typed in www.google.com
in the browser, but it changes to something else, e.g. www.google.nl
, etc., what do I do?
] Look at section [4a
] in this tutorial.
] Is there any other search engine out there?
] Yes, there are, but I would advise Google for beginner level, due to its simplicity and ease. Once you are confident with Google feature, you can try and explore with Yahoo! or MSN, if you are looking for challenge.
