Some Clarification On A Couple Rules

Tue Aug 08, 2017 6:43 am

In game (at least during NA times when I frequent) I noticed a bit of confusion/debate around two main rules:

Offensive Language: Non-bigoted Sailors Mouth/Swearing in frustration or jest IS allowed, but not directed at others ...right? Because then it would be considered "insulting" and therefore offensive.

Glitched Earthworks: Man this one causes some heat at times. I take it glitched earthworks ARE allowed in general (using as ramps/shields) but NOT allowed if they permanently block an entryway completely.
Some issues at hand:
1. One could place a glitched earthwork that only blocks completely when fully dug. The other team could undig and get past. Is that allowed? (basically the same as placing a normal earthwork in a entryway but much bigger).
2. One could place a sht ton of glitched earthworks around an open flag that "technically" doesn't prevent entry (players can walk through/over) but SEVERELY inhibits it. From what I've seen this IS allowed correct? Many players consider this overly unfair and think it's against the rules.

I think some clarification on these things would help both players and admins.
Thanks  :=D:

ALSO P.S.: Noticed the in-game menu rules were changed not too long ago and they seem more vague/less in depth than before. Was wondering why, because many players will never come to the forums to read full rules.

Yeah, we do need to go over the rules and add a couple like the Adversting one and also people blocking the Toliet should be a rule we need to enforce because it seems to be a lot of people has started blocking it. I have asked when the next meeting is but have not got a reply just yet so that I could ask about us rewriting the rule and adding a couple that i think would be useful for people to know.

On the Offensive Language one, swearing in general is allowed, such as saying 'What the fuck was that fucking shit' or 'That was Bullshit' or 'Fuck this game' . As long as the language is not directed at another player to be offensive or insulting, then I see it as fine and I won't do anything about it. I, myself, would loosely enforce this rule and only intervene if it gets truly out of hand.

As for the earth mounds the rule currently states:
  • No glitching of sapper works to prevent entry to ANY area of ANY fort or ramps through the floor.
For the moment that means DO NOT block any entrance with a glitched earth mound. In my eyes if someone builds the earth mound glitched in a doorway, regardless if even when undug you can pass through the door, they still attempted to block that doorway. Because they simply could have just used a normal earth mound to block the door temporarily, so why place a glitched one?
Building earth mounds around the flag is also currently allowed, as it isn't blocking entrances, but i'm sure the rules regarding these will be adjusted in the near future to accommodate just how annoying it is to get to a flag for the enemy just to appear through the ground from underneath the earth mound they just created, whilst you stumble and can't block on it.
These are my take on the rules and how I would enforce them, so I hope this helps a little.

And this is how these rules should be enforced.

The reason why the rules in-game are now more vague/less in-depth than before is because, from what I know, there is only a limited number of characters you can write in the Rules section. And we needed more space for advertising the forum and the TS. I could be wrong about it. Besides, the actual rules are written on the forum, in-game there is only a short summary of them and this is how it should be.

Regarding the toilet, if a player blocks it, he will be informed by the admin that the toilet can be used by his teammates as a means to heal. Blocking entrances, stairs, ramps, toilets has always been punishable after a warning was given.

Edit:
Regarding players not reading the rules on the forums, the idea is: whatever the admin in-game decides or says is the rule. The decision may be contested after all, but this is how actual law-enforcement works in real life. As a human being, it's impossible to know all the laws in the world.
